AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS – HOW DO THEY WORK?
When an air source heat pump is installed energy is extracted from the air outside the building using a refrigeration circuit.
The heat is transmitted into the building and used to heat the rooms with radiators or underfloor heating. It also heats the hot water cylinder.
If carefully installed they will run reliably with little maintenance and can give impressive levels of kWs out for each kW input. MSC data charts are available for each machine for you to download.
We take out a ten year insurance policy with IWA to back up our warranty on our installations giving you peace of mind!
- Air source heating systems are intrinsically reliable giving a low maintenance life span of 20 years. When does anyone take a screwdriver to a fridge?
- Running costs lower than oil, electric radiators or cylinder gas and comparable with mains gas.
- If considering for a new build it will avoid the high gas connection costs while giving similar run costs.
- Simple to install at low cost as no ground works are required
Government Financial Incentives
Air Source Heat Pumps qualify for the government’s Renewable Heat Incentive for domestic installations. Depending on the ASHP used commercial installs can also claim RHI.
